The Difference Between Good and Bad Cholesterol
There are two types of lipoproteins that carry cholesterol throughout the body: low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL).
Having healthy and consistent levels of both kinds of lipoproteins is vital to wellness.
LDL cholesterol is commonly referred to as “bad” cholesterol. A high LDL level can lead to a buildup of cholesterol in the arteries, the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart.
HDL cholesterol is commonly called “good” cholesterol. It carries cholesterol to the liver, the organ responsible for eliminating cholesterol from the body.
