Gymnema Sylvestre and Blood Sugar
Sometimes referred to as the miracle fruit, gymnema sylvestre is an herb native to the monsoon forests of Central and Southern India. Studies show that chewing the plant’s leaves suppresses sugar cravings and is very helpful to people who have a so-called “sweet tooth.”
It has also been demonstrated that gymnema sylvestre has been useful in treating people suffering from pre-diabetes as it brings down blood glucose and raises serum insulin levels.
Some researchers claim gymnema sylvestre extract is the only compound that has shown the ability to lessen indicators of diabetes by directly repairing and regenerating the pancreas cells responsible for producing insulin.
According to some studies, gymnema sylvestre contains many constituents that make it helpful in the treatment of types 1 and 2 diabetes when used in conjunction with conventional diabetes treatment.
