DescriptionNo one knows for sure how it happened… But it’s likely that, thousands of years ago, someone accidentally left milk outside in the sun. And while ancient people began purposely making and eating yogurt back as far as 2500 B.C., nobody really knows when humans first realized the health benefits of consuming yogurt’s living “friendly” bacteria. By the 1960s, yogurt began to be popularized in America as a type of health food. And while this may sound like a positive step, it was actually the beginning of a downward spiral for this once-healthful product. That’s why, if you currently spend money on any of the popular yogurt brands lining your supermarket’s dairy aisle — and think you’re actually boosting your digestive health — I’d ask you to think again…
Plus, you’ll see why most supplements and foods containing friendly, probiotic bacteria may actually be a waste of your hard-earned money. So I’d urge you to read this in its entirety. You’ll also read about a shocking digestive issue affecting everyone over 50, But don’t worry… Because renowned holistic medical physician Dr. David Brownstein will be with share his secrets to great digestive health shortly— and give you some simple tips to not only revitalize your intestinal functioning, but also to support your immune system and overall wellness. Perhaps you recognize Dr. Brownstein as medical editor of the popular newsletter Natural Way to Health. He’s also a noted speaker, and author of numerous best-selling health books. And today, he’ll be sharing some of his expertise with you. Plus, you’ll also discover how you can easily fight back against annoying but common occurrences like irregular bowel movements, occasional constipation, diarrhea, embarrassing abdominal gas, and more. But first, a little background on your hard-working digestive tract… You can think of your gastrointestinal tract (also known as your GI tract or gut) as a long hollow tube beginning at your mouth and ending at your anus. Now, over your lifetime, about 60 TONS of food will pass through your GI tract. Your gut’s main function is to digest this food in order to extract vital energy and nutrients, and then expel the remaining material from your body as waste. In this presentation, we’re primarily concerned with the lower parts of your digestive system — your small and large intestines. Your small intestine is actually about 20 feet long — or about 3½ times as long as your height. Your small intestine plays a crucial role in taking partially digested food from your stomach and absorbing the maximum amount of nutrients from it. In fact, about 90% of digestion and absorption takes place in your small intestine. Your small intestine also contains a great number of so-called “friendly” bacteria, predominantly of the Lactobacillus type. We’ll discuss their importance to your health in more detail shortly. Now after your small intestine does its job, remaining food material then passes into your large intestine. Your large intestine is actually shorter than your small intestine, about 5 feet long or so. Calling your intestines “large” or “small” is really due to the width of the tube. Your large intestine is larger in diameter, not length. Your large intestine performs a number of important functions in digestion, including additional absorption of vitamins and other nutrients. It even helps your body create vitamins, especially some B vitamins and vitamin K, essential to blood clotting. It also helps absorb water and salts from the remainder of the indigestible food matter to maintain proper fluid balance of your blood, along with many other functions crucial to your health. And your large intestine also contains plenty of friendly bacteria, predominantly of the Bifidobacteria type. So both your small and large intestine contain bacteria. In fact, your gut is home to about 100 trillion bacteria -- weighing 2 or 3 pounds! Because of this huge quantity of living organisms, some scientists consider your gut to be an organ of sorts — they call it the “microbial organ.” That brings us to one of the main benefits of your friendly bacteria… Soothing Your Digestive System Concerns For you to remain optimally healthy, about 85% of the bacteria in your gut should be “friendly” bacteria, such as Lactobacillus or Bifidobacteria. The remaining 15% are generally non-beneficial bacteria, but their minority status helps keeps them in check. Unfortunately, in many people this ratio becomes imbalanced. The non-beneficial bacteria increase in numbers, crowding out the friendly bacteria. These friendly bacteria are known as probiotics. And did you realize that more than 100 million Americans suffer from digestive concerns? In fact, some medical experts will tell you that more people suffer from simple occasional constipation than all other health concerns combined. Millions of Americans experience occasional bathroom frustrations such as:
And good news: Supplementing your diet with additional friendly probiotic bacteria may be just what you need to help keep your digestive system more balanced to help your digestive tract run smoothly! It’s not as simple as just buying yogurt or cheap supplements, however, so make sure to watch this entire presentation to make sure you aren’t wasting your money. Now when it comes to simple constipation, probiotic bacteria may actually speed up the transit time of waste material in your colon — so you can have more regular and less uncomfortable bowel movements. And with a balanced digestive system, you may experience significantly less gas and bloating. In fact, many studies have been done to confirm that probiotics lower the risk of diarrhea associated with the use of antibiotic drugs. As you can well imagine, antibiotics disrupt the normal balance of bacteria in your gut by indiscriminately killing both friendly and pathogenic strains. Diarrhea is a frequent side effect, but fortunately, supplementing with probiotics can significantly lower the risk of this happening. This brings me to a unique problem affecting the older population — an issue very few doctors even know about. Several recent studies, including one out of Johns Hopkins, report that with aging, the population of friendly bacteria such as Bifidobacteria in the large intestine becomes significantly reduced. That means that people in an older age group may start experiencing an imbalance between beneficial and non-beneficial bacteria. And this brings me to more probiotic benefits… Supports a Healthy Immune System and More When you think of your immune system, your large intestine is probably not what comes to mind. However, a large portion of your immune system may actually be located in your gut. Scientists call this the GALT, or gut-associated lymphatic tissue. Numerous studies, including a 2010 study by the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, suggest that probiotics, by introducing “friendly” bacteria into the gut, may help maintain immune system activity. Besides providing digestive and immune support, ongoing research studies continue to investigate the functions of friendly bacteria and the potential health benefits they may provide for a wide variety of concerns. Knowing this, why shouldn’t you load up on yogurt or just any type of probiotic supplement you may find on your grocery store shelf? The Real Truth About Yogurt and Most Probiotic Supplements Food manufacturers would like you to believe otherwise, but the sad truth is that many store-bought yogurt products may be a waste of your hard-earned money. Unfortunately, most commercial yogurts are loaded with sugar and other additives, and often are heat processed or pasteurized, which may destroy some of their live bacterial cultures. Additionally, many people have problems digesting dairy products, and the pasteurization process may kill the lactase enzyme, which would have made the dairy product more easily digestible. And what about taking probiotic supplements? Well, researchers warn that about half of the probiotic products available do not contain the bacteria listed on the label. Plus, even those that do may not have the correct mix of bacterial strains to benefit your health. And low-quality products may not be manufactured in the correct way to help the bacteria survive a trip to the supermarket shelf, much less the harsh trip through your acid-laden GI tract. For this reason, using a high-quality probiotic supplement is the only way to guarantee maximum health benefits. In a minute, you’ll discover how to choose the right probiotic supplement for your needs, but first Dr. Brownstein will give you some simple tips for better digestive health and overall wellness with probiotics. Dr. David Brownstein: Over the two decades that I have been practicing medicine I have seen thousands of patients with digestive systems complaints. Issues of the GI Tract are some of the most common reasons people see a doctor or take over the counter or prescription drugs. In fact, 7 out of 10 people suffer from digestive health concerns and more women than men tend to get these problems. Because so many people suffer from digestive health concerns I want to give you 5 simple tips for great digestive health.
I use probiotics myself and follow all the tips I’ve outlined here for you. You’ll discover more about how important probiotics are for your health and how to choose the probiotic that is right for you. Let me know how you when you add probiotics and these other simple strategies to your daily routine. I look forward to hearing from you about how much better you feel. Thanks Dr. Brownstein for your great advice. You know, Dr. Brownstein was very frustrated with the low-quality, ineffective probiotic solutions he found on the market today. And seeing the need for more abundant probiotic bacteria in the diets of his patients, he decided to develop his own breakthrough formula to help give you the best mix of proven probiotic strains, based on his 17-plus years of research and patient treatment. And here’s the best news of all… Dr. Brownstein wants to make sure you have the opportunity to experience the benefits of a high-quality probiotic supplement formula— so he teamed up with Medix Select to develop a new premium probiotic solution called Bactipro®. But first I’d like to tell you more about Bactipro®, and give you five reasons why it is so superior to other probiotics on the market. Reason #1: Bactipro® Offers a Multi-strain Formula to Support Both Your Small Intestine and Colon Because there’s no “one size fits all,” it’s important to include a mixture of proven bacterial strains in your optimal probiotic formula. And Bactipro® contains SIX powerful probiotic strains in one tasty wafer— all carefully chosen by Dr. Brownstein to target your digestive health, immune health, and much more. You’ll find strains from both the Bifidobacteria family and the Lactobacillus family, and here’s why: Bifidobacteria strains primarily work in the large intestine to help detoxify your colon and support normal elimination. Lactobacillus strains primarily work in the small intestine to assist in digestion and absorption of foods, particularly in absorption of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. To get into a bit more detail, here is a brief overview of the six strains of probiotic helpers you’ll find in Bactipro: Bifidobacterium bifidum Also known as Bacillus coagulans and sold under the trademarked nameLactospore®, this bacterial strain offers the benefit of producing spores, which offer greater resistance to destruction as they pass through the GI tract. Just a few of the benefits seen in studies with this strain include help for occasional diarrhea, simple constipation, and other digestive concerns. Reason #2: Bactipro® Gives You More Fiber with No Effort You may hear dietary fiber termed “roughage.”
That’s why getting more fiber in your daily diet is critical. Fiber is also good for your health, promotes balanced cholesterol and blood glucose levels, and aids in weight management.A higher fiber diet tends to make you feel “full” for a longer time, decreasing hunger, and making you less likely to overeat. Unfortunately, according to the National Fiber Council, the average American gets less than half the daily recommended amount of dietary fiber necessary for good health. And that’s why Dr. Brownstein made sure Bactipro® contains a full 6 grams of fiber per daily serving. Great Reason #3: Get PREbiotics and PRObiotics in One Tasty Product You’ve already heard a lot about probiotics and what they can do for you. But perhaps you haven’t heard of prebiotics… Great Reason #4: Get More Health-Boosting Antioxidants in Bactipro® Antioxidants help protect and repair your body’s cells from damage caused by free radicals. It’s important to minimize the impact of these free radicals on your body by boosting your antioxidant intake. Lutein is important to promote eye health, and lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that helps with eye and heart health. Great Reason #5: Bactipro® Contains a Power-Packed Phytonutrient Blend of 26 Fruits and Well, they are the natural chemical compounds that give plant foods their colors. Over 5,000 different phytonutrients have been identified to date.
And while phytonutrients do not have established daily requirement guidelines, they are crucial for overall health. Ellagic Acid Phytonutrients: Today, you’ve learned many ways probiotics can benefit your digestive system, your immune system, and many other health concerns.
