Causes of Cardiovascular Disease
Most issues associated with heart disease are caused by a process called atherosclerosis, more commonly referred to as a hardening of the arteries.
Atherosclerosis occurs when plaque builds up in the walls of the arteries impeding the flow of blood. If a blood clot forms, a heart attack or stroke could be imminent.
Other causes of cardiovascular disease include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, poor diet, lack of exercise, alcohol consumption, smoking, and genetics.
