What is Cardiovascular Disease?
Cardiovascular disease is heart disease. Most issues associated with heart disease are caused by a process called atherosclerosis, more commonly referred to as a hardening of the arteries.
Atherosclerosis occurs when plaque builds up in the walls of the arteries impeding the flow of blood. If a blood clot forms, a heart attack or stroke could be imminent.
Types of cardiovascular disease include heart failure, heart valve problems and arrhythmia.
